Linked In…

4 Oct

If you talked to me about your job search a few years ago I would have told you to limit your computer time and increase your phone time and face-to-face meetings. My thoughts have slightly changed….

Many of you will shout HOORAY because you really hate the phone, face-to-face thing. Job search continues to evolve. TODAY, I am telling you that you should spend a LITTLE more time on the computer. Yes, it is true. More computer time. BUT! This doesn’t mean you should get on the computer at 8:00 AM and get off at 5:00 PM. NO, however, it does mean you need to be spending some time with with Social Media, particularly Linked In.

Are you familiar with using Linked In for job search? Many people are still unsure of the nuances of using Linked In for networking let alone job search. And it probably doesn’t help that Linked In makes changes constantly without any advance warning.

Two pieces of advice for using Linked In for job search.

  1. Go to the Linked In ‘Help Center’. Type ‘job search learning webinar’ in the search box; click and sign up for one of Linked In’s free webinars. Well worth your time.
  2. Go to this link http://careerenlightenment.com/ and sign up for the free newsletter. And, I strongly suggest you buy Josh Waldman’s book  “Job Searching with Social Media for Dummies”. A terrific, cutting edge book to help you use Social Media in your search.

For those of you out there worried about your age, unless you have discovered a way to make yourselves younger  I highly recommend becoming Social Media savvy. It’s all the rage, the cat’s meow, far-out and cool……you know what I mean.

Seriously folks. Don’t delay!

Hi, I’m Angela Tyczka’s Son-in-law and I’ve been out of work now for 6 months and worked in restaurant management for 15 years now and I’m having trouble getting back in the industry. I think I need more Interviewing practice considering i’ve only Interviewed a handful of times over the past 15 years. Also, maybe you can look at my resume and tell me what you think. Thank you, Jason Leverenz bhawk.brian@gmail.com
